Band Senior Staff 

 

Capt. John D. Keeler – Commander  

 

Capt. John Keeler assumed command of the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast on 1 September 2007.  Capt Keeler has been a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard for approximately 17 years.  Prior to assuming command, he was a Personnel Officer at the 104th Fighter Wing.  Capt Keeler has held various positions to include: Military Pay Specialist, Travel Pay Specialist, Disbursement Accounting Specialist, Information Management Specialist, and Financial Management Specialist.  He graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting.  Capt Keeler also received his Associates degree from the Community College of the Air Force in Financial Management.  Capt Keeler works full time at Joint Force Headquarters as Director, Internal Review.  As Supervisory Auditor, he reports directly to the United States Property and Fiscal Officer for Massachusetts.

SMSgt William Drury - Conductor-Superintendent

William Drury is the Associate Conductor of Wind Ensembles at New England Conservatory of Music, the Assistant Conductor of Orchestras at MIT and conducts the Wind Ensemble at Boston Conservatory of Music. Drury also plays saxophone with the Jimmy Capone Big Band. He has been assistant conductor of the Civic Orchestra of Boston and conductor of the Auros Chamber Orchestra, and has conducted ensembles at Harvard, Brown and Brandeis Universities and numerous US Air Force Bands throughout the nation. Drury has premiered works by composers such as Larry Bell, Daniel Pinkham, Alan Fletcher, Popkin and John Zorn. As a jazz saxophonist, William Drury has performed with Natalie Cole, The Coasters, Dave Stewart and MFB, and played lead tenor with the Bob Curnow Big Band. Before entering undergraduate studies, Drury worked for five years as a track laborer for the Burlington Northern Railroad.

MSgt Kevin Martin - First Sergeant

MSgt Kevin Martin has been part of the Band for over 20 years.  He graduated from UMass Lowell and received his masters degree from Anna Maria College.   MSgt Martin has also been the Unit Deployment Manager and Percussion Section Chief, and currently plays in the concert band and marching band.  MSgt Martin has also performed with our own Ambassadors and the Dixie Blues.  MSgt Martin is a police lieutenant in civilian life.

MSgt Elaine D'Alessandro - Education and Training Manager

MSgt Elaine D'Alessandro began her career in the Massachusetts National Guard in 1985.  She started off her military career as a member of the 26th Yankee Infantry Division Army National Guard Band, out of Boston. She transferred to the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast, in 1988.  MSgt D'Alessandro is the Training Manager of the Air National Guard band. She served as Principle Chair and Section Leader of the French Horn section from 1989 - 2003 and as the band's Historian from 1989 - 1994. MSgt D'Alessandro performed in the Stage Band, Dixieland Band, Protocol Band and Rock Band on piano.  She currently performs in the concert band on French Horn and the ceremonial band on trumpet.

MSgt Thomas Carmichael - Resource Advisor/Chief of Supply

MSgt Carmichael has been a member of the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast for over 25 years.  MSgt Carmichael is the  lead site facilitator for the Air National Guard Distance Learning Satellite NCO Academy at HQ, MA ANG Milford MA. MSgt Carmichael was a Personnel Specialist for enlisted records, MA State Headquarters. MSgt Carmichael is the NCOIC of Supply and Resource Advisor for the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast. MSgt Carmichael serves as a second chair trumpet player for the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast and prior to becoming the Band Supply NCOIC he served as the NCOIC of the band library. MSgt Carmichael works as a Mortgage Banking Underwriter in civilian life.

MSgt Charles Edgerly - Operations Manager

MSgt Charles Edgerly has been a band member for over 15 years.  He is attending Northern Essex Community College.   MSgt Edgerly has also been the Drum Major and senior audio engineer, and currently plays drum set in the jazz combo, narrates for the concert band, and performs in the rock band.  MSgt Edgerly also oversees public affairs for the band.   MSgt Edgerly was the house sound technician at the Collins Center for the Performing Arts in Andover from 1988 through 1990 and worked with Mel Torme, Maynard Ferguson, Roberta Peters, and the Mantovani Orchestra.  MSgt Edgerly has also performed with the rock band Captain Black as well as the Metro West Community Band in Natick.  MSgt Edgerly is a police officer in civilian life.  His wife, TSgt Jennifer Edgerly, is the band librarian and plays clarinet.

MSgt Tony Cyrus - Music Manager

MSgt Tony Cyrus is the Music Manager for the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast and the band as assistant conductor.  MSgt Cyrus performs in the concert band as the principal bassoonist and as a vocalist and keyboard player.  MSgt Cyrus transferred to the Air National Guard after spending 14 years in the Maine Army National Guard  195th Army Band.  MSgt Cyrus is currently the Director of Instrumental Music at Winnacunnet High School in Hampton, New Hampshire.  Previous teaching positions were in Howland and Brewer, Maine.  MSgt Cyrus recently founded the Greater Hampton Community Band, which rehearses and performs during the summer.  MSgt Cyrus performed with the Bangor, Maine Symphony Orchestra for 13 years as a bassoonist and contrabassoonist.  MSgt Cyrus is also a past conductor of the Bangor Band, a community band in Bangor, Maine.  MSgt Cyrus was honored to be selected to perform in All-American College Marching Bands for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and for theOpening Ceremonies for the EPCOT center in Florida.
