Standard Audition Requirements Woodwinds

Flute

SCALES AND ARPEGGIOS:

• Major

• Minor, all forms

• Chromatic, beginning on any note

SOLO: Perform a solo of your choice which displays your ability at the highest professional level. An accompanist is not required. Suggested pieces:

• Mozart, Concerto in D

• Poulenc, Sonata

• Chaminade, Concertino

• Griffes, Poem

• Mozart, Concerto in G

• Vivaldi, Concerto in a minor (piccolo)

• Vivaldi, Concerto in C (piccolo)

ETUDES: Perform one technical etude and one lyrical etude. Suggested sources:

• Anderson, 24 Studies, Op. 33

• Koehler, 25 Romantic Etudes, Op. 66

• other studies by Anderson, JeanJean, Reichert, Berbguir, Boehm

SIGHT-READING: Sight-reading of various styles will be required.

JAZZ STYLE: Perform a standard moderate to up-tempo jazz tune demonstrating your ability to play stylistically correct.

ETUDES: Perform one technical etude and one lyrical etude. Suggested sources:

• Voxman, Selected Studies for Saxophone

• Ferling, 48 Famous Studies for Oboe or Saxophone

SIGHT-READING: Sight-reading of various styles will be required including jazz and classical.
