The Air National Guard Band of the Northeast, was Activated on 1 October 1941 as the Air Force Band, Bowman Field, KY.

It was designated the 67th Army band in October of 1942 then to the 567th Army Band in December of 1943. It was re-designated the 567th Army Air Forces Band in March of 1944 then inactivated in November of 1945. The Band served both state-side and overseas during the second world war and received the European Theater Streamer without inscription.

In May of 1946 the band became part of the Massachusetts Air National Guard and became Federally recognized on 10 November 1947 at Boston. In September of 1947 the band was designated the 567th Air Force Band. The Band changed station to Logan Field, East Boston in December of 1951, and in Aug of 1968 was transferred to Otis Air Force Base, Cape Cod, Massachusetts which was later changed to Otis Air National Guard Base.

In the year 2000 the bands designation was changed once more to the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast and in June of 2001 the band changed station to Headquarters, Massachusetts National Guard, Milford. Massachusetts.

The band's personnel are all part-time military people who, in civilian life, pursue a wide variety of careers.
